book Jesuitica

preciosa This website offers a virtual portal for the Jesuitica Project at the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Leuven, Belgium. Our goal is to stimulate research into the spirituality and history of the Society of Jesus, on the basis of the rich collections of Jesuit books in the Maurits Sabbe Library.

The Maurits Sabbe Library houses a vast number of historic volumes that belonged to several regional Jesuit houses and centres of education in the Low Countries. At this moment in time three major Jesuitica collections are being held at this library: the Jesuitica collection from the North Belgian Jesuit Province, the Dutch Jesuit Province and Maastricht University. These collections are momentarily in the process of being catalogued, so they can be accessed by researchers and scholars worldwide. Uncatalogued holdings remain accessible in situ.

imagoThe site hopes to help scholars trace that very volume they've always had an eye on. Come again regularly and witness the collection grow. The results window will yield all jesuitica items in the Maurits Sabbe library (Limit My Results to "Physical items in KU Leuven", and refine results by Library: KU Leuven Maurits Sabbebib), and items with 'jesuitica' in the title as well. Updates are made twice a day.
